Los Angeles, CA - On The Ground Floor (OTGF) is pleased to present "Roots," a group exhibition of seventeen global emerging artists rendering narratives that evoke our natural world, our native lands, our troubled families, and our forgotten. Combining histories, memories, and shifting cultural landscapes; these artists probe their geneses and offer up musings on food, farming, and tiny acts of freedom.

Curated by Malika Ali and featuring the works of Harris David Harris, Ilyn WongMarie-Lois RodriguezShahar Tuchner, Maria Buyondo, Zara Kuredjian, Donna Cooper Hurt, Ann Oren, Lindsey Schulz, Tereza Swanda, David Dunne, Alexandra Carter, Lauren Jo, Dimitra Skandali, Nicole Foran, Natalie M. Ball, and László Mészáros

On The Ground Floor is a South LA based alternative arts space established in the spring of 2014. OTGF hosts art shows, talks, readings, performances, and workshops that seek to foster meaningful conversations about the arts, create organic connections for artists, and preserve space for artistic experimentation and exploration. Located at 3616 Mount Vernon Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90008 on the ground floor of a two-story residence situated above historic Leimert Park.

"Roots" is open during events and by appointment only. Admission is free. Donations are welcome. RSVP is required. Scheduled events include Opening Night, Saturday, June 27th, 7pm-10pm; Spoken Stories, an open mic evening of legends, folklore, and family tales, Saturday, July 11th, 7pm-10pm; and Urban Farm-a-licious, a farm to table recipe workshop with new food blogger Morgan Mabry-Stiff, Saturday, July 25th, 7pm-10pm. Please visit our Calendar for more details.
